MACKINNLEY BOWDEN (HE/THEY)

Mackinnley Bowden started performing at the tender age of 9 years old in a regional Queensland's community theatre production of the Sound of Music. They went on to study a diploma of Musical Theatre at the New York Film Academy. After graduating, Mackinnley worked on shows in New York and throughout the USA in tours and regional theatres (Twinkle Tames a Dragon: The Musical, Chrysalis, Spamalot etc.). They left America with a twinkle in their eye and a passion for creating inclusive and safe spaces for Queer artists like them. After moving to Sydney they established Queerspace Arts and have never since looked back.

LAURA MORRIS (SHE/HER)

Laura was put into dancing when she was 5 years old, because she could never sit still. Put a pair of taps on her and to this day she hates taking them off. Growing up watching Ann Miller and the Nicholas Brothers and wearing out the VHS tapes of Strictly Ballroom and A Chorus Line meant it was inevitable that she was destined for the stage. After obtaining her Advanced Diplomas in Music Theatre and certifications in Dance Instruction, she graduated and started her Business Diplomas. Now being able to pursue both of her passions in Business and Performance, Laura is super excited to be a part of the Queerspace Team. Being in this industry for a while now has led to exploring what she really wants to say and using this amazing platform will allow her to produce the stories that really matter to her and her community.

ROSIE MCGAVOCK (HE/THEY)

As you will have read in many an actor’s bio before and will in many to come, Rosie started performing at a very young age. Ballet classes and school plays and poorly executed flute playing in the primary school orchestra lead them down the rabbit hole until by thirteen they were an insufferable show-off; acting, dancing and singing at the drop of a hat- and song writing in their spare time. Thankfully they’ve been humbled some by drama school training, with a diploma of Musical Theatre and most of an advanced diploma of Screen and Media (Acting) under their belt. Moving out of student life and into the professional realm, their primary goal is to create new, challenging work. They believe that art is a vehicle for growth, change, and understanding, and they’re extremely excited to be joining the Queerspace team to help it grow into the powerhouse it has always been destined to be.
